The Pearl River Police Department is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Police Dispatcher to join our team. As the first point of contact for emergency calls, Dispatchers play a crucial role in ensuring efficient communication between the community and law enforcement officers, ultimately enhancing public safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance from the public, ensuring accurate documentation of all pertinent details.
- Dispatch police officers and other emergency personnel to incidents based on established protocols and the nature of the call.
- Monitor and manage radio communications among officers in the field, providing critical information and support as needed.
- Maintain detailed records and logs of calls, incidents, and responses to facilitate accurate reporting and coordination.
- Assess and relay relevant information to officers responding to calls, including details about suspects, locations, and potential hazards.
- Assist callers in distress, providing guidance and support until emergency services arrive on the scene.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a clear and calm demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in using computer systems, telecommunication equipment, and emergency response databases.
